I've had this weird feeling all day. It's kinda like something isn't right in the world. Perhaps something isn't right in my life and I'm unhappy about it. Like most of the time my mind has drifted off and it's doing it's thing without informing me what it is. But I just got the message. Yes just now at 3 in the a.m. I feel broken-hearted. I ( Read more... )

You've gotta love the quarter-life crisis.

I gotta a suggestion for ya Ryn.

Try playing Magic. I know that seems like a funny suggestion with your passion for tourney being destoryed. But you could try playing Magic for fun instead of trying to win every game. I enjoy the game this way very much but find that the uber competitiveness of some people (at points you have fit in this catagory) takes away the casual fun of the game.

I truely think that if you relax alittle, you've find out why your luck has been suffering.

Another suggestion is you could join my D&D game on wedensdays if you like. I'm not sure if you'll like it or not. You and Perkins are very different people. We can try it if you like.

I liked D&D a lot. I miss is terribly, but someone was being unreasonable and that took a lot away from the experience.

Let's not go there as we both disagree Eric.

As for unreasonable, the only reason you didn't get what you wanted out of the experience is because you did not play the game.

All you had to do was talk to me and listen. Communication is key in this game.

Oh my fucking god! No! You of all people do not get to sit there and lecture me about communication! I told you what had me upset and not only did you do nothing, but you didn't even explain yourself!

i don't know who mavwizarddrums is, but damn does he have a few things straight.

1. you could try playing magic for fun (still trying to win every game, but not hating yourself/your luck or taking the deck apart when you don't).
2. at times you have fit into this category. (ha!)
3. you and perkins are very different people.

i'll add my own points to this list, too.

4. fuck no you're not quitting entirely BEFORE moving to fucking texas because goddamn it i intend to get the most i can out of our friendship till you fuck it all up by leaving me.
5. i can't afford your cards and to see someone else buy them would break my little heart.
6. "quarter-life crisis" is a phrase from a john mayer song.
7. c is for cookie and that's good enough for me, damn it.

I have to agree with Jerry. We're starting a new grouping exclusively for casual magic players. I don't know who's in and who's out yet. It will be by invitation only - I still need to get everyone their invitations. But I have a pretty good idea of what I want it to be. If you're interested let me know.

"Casual" Magic doesn't interest me. There's not enough challenge there. in a very Casual game any time I want I can pull out a deck and say BOOM I win. How can you get any satisfaction out of a game where you're not trying very hard and you're not giving it your best? Playing a half assed deck may be fun for some people I get that, but I don't play to have something to do while I talk with my friends. I play because I love the challenge and the competition. When those two things are taken out of the game I don't see a reason to play other than to just waste some time and I can do that for much cheeprer elsewhere.

Do you think 'any' of my decks are half assed?

ummm well you know they could be better. You use cards that give you opponets a chance because that's the kind of player you are. It seems to me that a deck is only part of what it could be until you tune it the the point where it goes for the throat every time with out asking for or granting any quarter. You like to use rarely seem cards and make them do very tricky and devestationg things but it's not like you're really trying to crush your opponets into the dust.

sorry to hear your disappointment. I agree with others about casual playing. I used to be intense competitive about sports, but now I have become immune to the psycho-competitive virus I was infected with everytime a game began. now win or lose, as long as I had fun, I'm good. it's tough, so good luck, maybe take a small break then return with magic, and maybe play with people who are not really competitive, it would help your environment.
