So, it's been awhile...

...since I posted on LJ.  I figured it makes perfect sense to come back in with a post about the mazda.

First the unrelated news, things have been going great in Colorado.  The wolf hybrid book is now under contract with a publisher, the website for Old Dogma New Tricks is almost up and ready to be released, and Colorado is as awesome a state as ( Read more... )

This interested me when you said "the mazda". You know Perro told me about the car and recommended it as one I might want to look at when I was feeling froggy to get a car. I looked and looked and none fell into my price range and soon after, more employment upsets happened. Yours still interested me in how it's been doing since we last met. I know you put some wicked miles on it and use it how you have to. Last thing I remember being told was that they have issues with transmissions.

Ya know.... I haven't seen a car yet that didn't have inherent transmission problems according to fan forum sites. I ended up with a car that had inherent tranny issues that I have personally witnessed and can repeat if I try. But i'm not trying again. ;)

Best of luck out of that little beauty of yours till you have to give her up. I still love the look. Very sleek.

Thanks Wyoon! Given that it has *barely* seen the hands of a mechanic at all in 110k, most of the work, which was probably amateur at best, was DIY stuff I did myself. It didn't survive the cold and the salt of Chicago well, but other than that, it has held up really, really well. It still handles and drives beautifully, and the engine runs smoothly.

The tranny I have is a stick, and it has been doing beautifully. I can't speak for the autos but a lot of AT's end up dying just because people never bother to change the fluid out. The only real thing I've seen that is definitely bad about Mazdas is the dealers. They have consistently been crap across the board.

Hope you have been doing well, I miss ya! *licks*

Yeah, same thing here, so many of em seem to be full of crap. It happens though.

Good to hear from you as well! Your buddy Chaos is doing quite well, despite some aging, sore hips. He is having a ball with my parents' dogs romping around in the woods of northern Michigan.

yeah. those Mazda engines are bullet proof - but what's this about a caliper only lasting 20k miles?
