Title: Dominance
Their battle for dominance is constant. Both of them challenge the other with a nod of the head or a curl of the lips, and sometimes, a solid blow to the jaw or the scrape of fingernails. To those around them, it’s amazing that they haven’t killed each other yet. But, it’s not about winning. It’s a game they love to play.
There are times when they’re tender with each other, their snarls fading to smiles as they caress each other. And, their affection for each other is clear. But, then the morning comes and the game starts over again.
For a long time, she did not see the point in William. She was a pragmatic creature, and if something did not have a reason behind it . . .
At first, William served to distract Drusilla, which was lovely. The child had grown intolerable, and any break from her was fine. But then Angelus had taken a liking to him, and she didn’t understand that at all.
Until one night he came home, grinning, the stink of blood and sex flowing off him like waves . . .
Darla was weak at the knees, and she saw the point.

Title: falling from grace
For once, it was not about Angel. Or so they kept thinking.
Buffy doesn’t know how Darla can be there, undusted and standing by the dance floor, a rainbow of pretty lights dancing on her skin. Neither does she know why she dares step forward and call her name. If Darla is afraid, she doesn’t show it as she takes Buffy’s hand and leads her to a dark corner, where hands quickly go under their dresses and mouths clash. It’s a spell, Buffy thinks, I can get over this and do my job. I have a suicide wish, Darla thinks, it will be over soon.
They keep thinking that, even as night fades into day and they find themselves in Darla’s room. At some point they fall asleep, and the first thing Buffy realizes is that she can place her hand on Darla’s chest and it’s warm, beating, alive.
And so the stake in her purse is forgotten. And as Buffy awakes Darla with a kiss, they stop thinking and just give in to sensation.
