Interesting roundtable discussion from Sundance with Hal Hartley, David Gordon Green, Gregg Araki, and Tamara Jenkins.

ETA: Jenkin's new film The Savages sounds really promising.

The Savages does sound good... good cast.

I just rented Young Adam tonight, which even a devilishly handsome Ewen McGregor couldn't save. But then it was hard to watch him playing an asshole.

He either plays milquetoasts or assholes, it seems!
So it was bad, huh? I keep meaning to read the book (Trocchi is a great writer) but there's a reason I've put off seeing the film...

I bet the book would be good. And there were definitely some good moments...

But they originally had Ewen doing a voiceover throughout, and they took it out as it was deemed unnecessary. I don't think it was necessary, but it might have been nice to have a few bits and pieces of it. The pace was sort of slow.. the dialogue chilly and minimal.

The box describes it as a shocking thriller and it's definitely not that.
