This morning I was feeling a lot better. I was feeling...good even. Woke up, took a shower, put on clean clothes and left for class. It was sunny outside. The sun felt warm and I sort of smiled, and as I was walking I even started to ask myself why I had been feeling so bummed at the beginning of the week. I started to question whether or not I had ( Read more... )

that's so crappy. :(

But... what are you doing this weekend? I'm going to be in LA on Saturday and driving back on Sunday, and I'd like to stop by LMU and say hi to you and PJ for a bit. Do you think we could manage to find a few minutes?

Much love Sarah, and I'm sorry things are so shitty. Not that me being sorry really changes anything, but if it could I'd be REALLY sorry.

love.

" It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! -- how consoling in the depths of affliction! "And this, too, shall pass away." And yet let us hope it is not quite true. Let us hope, rather, that by the best cultivation of the physical world, beneath and around us; and the intellectual and moral world within us, we shall secure an individual, social, and political prosperity and happiness, whose course shall be onward and upward, and which, while the earth endures, shall not pass away. "

- Abraham Lincoln, September 30th, 1859

I'm sorry bad things have to happen. At least take solace in knowing that these bad times will pass away. Here is to your own onward and upward individual happiness.

You know, there's the same story but it's a Jewish king... and a his servant finds him a ring that, when worn, will make the wearer humble in times of pride and hopeful in times of sorrow. It was supposedly a magic ring, but the servant went to a jeweler and got the king a ring that said " gam zeh ya'vor," or "this too shall pass."

neat.
