Modern day bartering is ebay, but it turns into money still.

My mom pays for my car insurance and my dad pays for my car payment. I'm thankful for it, but the thing I don't like about it is that my mother will use it as a means to make me feel like I'm dependent and bring guilt upon me and, even worse, use it as a threatening thing when she's mad at me. "I'll just stop paying your insurance!" Yeah, really reliable. :-/ I could pay for it, it just would mean I would have to start student loans.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom does that, and my boyfriends parents do that all the time. It's so lame...and it only brings more tension into the relationship. It doesn't solve anything.
