Hey! Well, the only thing I've ever read of Lisa See's Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which sounds incredibly corny but I actually found quite good. I liked the honest look that the narrator had of herself, even if I felt she blamed herself too much. Additionally, it was kind of a heart breaking story, since I'd never even though of the ramifications of foot binding before, and how much it influenced women's lives. I'd advise you to give it a try if you can get it form the library.

And thanks for the review! I'm skipping Peony and going for the swans then.

I actually saw that in the library! Maybe I should try to read it whenever I'll have time, just in case it really is better. I mostly disliked Peony in Love because of the main character. :/ She pretty much destroyed at least two women because she was horribly selfish and jealous, and the author made it sound like it was okay.
