I just had a 25 minute conversation about furthering my education with a Nigerian medical student working as a telemarketer. I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I just chatted with him and let him tell me all about colleges in my area, despite the fact that I am currently enrolled. That is so hilarious, about him practicing his english while supposedly telemarketing.....LOL!!!

I felt so bad, he was so eager to chat and tell me about the business.

I think he meant he likes telemarketing cos he gets to talk to people and practice language that way, hahaha.

I have two rules (ok, more than 2, but here are two): I will ALWAYS be nice to telemarketers, even though I will ALWAYS refuse their offers, and ALWAYS take whatever pamphlets people hand out on the street , even if I throw it away when the "giver" is out of sight.

I think it's sweet that you talked to him.

I think I may be adopting your two rules for the future. Usually I get pretty impatient with telemarketers because they are soooo pushy, but this guy was clearly trying very hard to do his job and I just felt very protective of him all of a sudden. I didn't want him to lose his job :(
