I live in South FL and my late husband was in the shipping/cruise line industry. The word was, and, I suppose, still is, that it's not a matter of IF, but WHEN Cuba will open up for tourism from the U.S. The companies have been retooling for it for years, in anticipation of the embargo being lifted at some point. Meanwhile, there is still the Office of Foreign Assets Control prohibiting visits to Cuba, except by certain prescribed methods and for only a handful of reasons, which must be pre-verified. Obviously, FL is the easiest access point, so it's more relevant here than elsewhere. The earliest, post-revolution Cuban immigrants have assimilated into American society and would hate to see anything change until Castro, et al. are gone. There are other factions, though, who resent not being able to send unlimited aid to relatives still in Cuba. There are very vocal proponents of both sides of the argument.
