I have been getting several calls over the past week from a computerized voice that is offering to lower my credit card fee. No number shows up on caller ID - it says Private Caller or something like that. The recorded message is so vague that I can't actually tell if its my actual credit card provider (Bank of America) or some random sales pitch. ( Read more... )

i don't know how to get them to stop, but i totally know what you are talking about.

is it a woman's voice saying something along the lines of "this is an urgent message regarding your credit account. don't worry, nothing is wrong yet, BUT..." dun-dun-DUN!!!

it's total bullshit and this is why: 1) i do not and have not EVER owned a credit card or been in debt in any way. so they're wrong on that account. 2) my mom and dad have also never EVER owned credit cards or owed debt their entire lives and get these messages to both of their phone numbers (both of which were established in their names and have never been the numbers for other people).

i think it is just a sign of the economy... in this economy, people are freaking out and others are trying to take advantage of that. it is mean!

p.s. we are also on the DO NOT CALL list so i think these scammers have just gotten thru somehow. :(

I've been going crazy with these parasites too. I even started waiting for callers to speak first. (They obviously recognize human answer.) But to get rid of? Finding nothing on web searches...sorry. ~m

I get one on my direct line at work for renewing the warranty on my car. so annoying. if they want to pay the $2000 repair work I have to pay right now, maybe I should take the computerized voice up on it :)

Yeah, it's happening to me, too. It's not a real card company. Totally chaps my hyde.
