Spotlight = LJ deathknell?

I truly believe that the LJ spotlight leads all good communities to go to hell.

Case in point: my favorite crockpotting community was spotlighted this week, and there's been nothing less than a FLOOD of new members and all the related crap that ensues.

Perfect example shown here.  Squee! Chicken and BBQ sauce! I would never have thought to put these

Hang in there... it'll mellow out. The same thing happened to weddingplans and it didn't take too long before the trouble ended.

By the way, are you reading weddingplans? I've learned a lot of useful little things from them. Plus there's always enough drama rants to keep me sane in the "Thank gawd that's not happening to me" kind of way.
