Best place to get Cat ToysdublosMay 28 2008, 22:01:27 UTC
If you check the CFA and or TICA websites you can look for cat shows that are in your area.
Cat shows always have the coolest toys, as well as lots of crafty home made type toys as well. If you go to the show on it's last day, nearer to the end of the day, you can get deals because the vendors don't want to pack the toys up to take home.

I've found the quality of the refills to vary a lot.
The first 2, Lintilla destroyed within minutes. However, I've been on the 3rd one for months.
She's happy to play with it for hours at a time, and will amuse herself with it if I don't feel like holding the wand, and I'm yet to see a loose feather. The only way this refill is wearing out is if she eats it (a strong possibility with this cat).

I wish I could find one of those refills. But as I said, Jesse has managed to pull the feathers out of the first one, then to rip apart the red plastic.
We bought a cheaper version that I thought was going to be the answer. It lasted longer, but again, he managed to pull it apart.
I've got to design a good cat toy that will last forever myself. Really I do.
That's the worst part about them, that he loves them so! I love watching him have a good time, but honestly, at six bucks each, it's just too expensive for ten minutes of fun.
I've got to design and build a cat toy myself that will hold up to the most vicious of cats.
At wal mart last night, they had a little display that sits in the main aisle of various pet toys for $1. They had stick and feather things, in neon colors. Now, for $1 at wal mart I wouldn't expect much.
The only reason I even noticed this (since I no longer have a cat), is because the display was in the main aisle near picture frames and linens, across the store from the pet toys. Might be worth checking out the next time you're there for litter...
Hmmm... thanks for letting me know. Usually those cheap walmart toys aren't that great, but honestly, for a dollar? If it amuses him and stays alive for a couple days that would be fantastic.

Gotta say, she loved playing with it, though!
