Drabble subject: Habits (2 of dislike, one of hate, two of love)
Severus:
Two habits of Darian's that he dislikes.
1) Darian's tendency to leave his stuff all over the place. It ends up so that Severus always trips over something getting into bed or out of bed at way too early in the morning.
2) Darian's habit of losing everything because he didn't put it back in the proper place. It always ends up that Dar runs around the apartment like a headless chicken, looking for something silly like his keys, and ending up late.
One Habit Severus despises.
3)Darian's tendency to keep his mouth shut when he's hurt. Severus isn't the most perceptive of human beings (though he's picked up some things, living with his boyfriend), and he'd be the first to admit that. As such, Severus doesn't always notice when Dar's hurt by something (either something Severus did, or something that's happened), and he doesn't poke. As such, the hurt festers until it explodes on them both, leaving them more hurt than before.
Two habits Sev actually likes:
4) Darian's calm. It means that when Severus crawls out of bed and snarls like a wounded animal, Dar never takes offense. Or when Sev's had a bad day at work, and comes home pissed at the universe that uncaringly kills people, Darian knows that the anger is not aimed at him, even though Severus never explicitly says so, and therefore Darian never takes offense. Severus is grateful that there exists somebody who understands him that well.
5) Dar's habit of sleeping on Sev's side of the bed, right up until Sev comes into the bedroom, still munching on whatever was left out for him in the kitchen. Then Darian will always slide over to his side of the bed, until Sev climbs in, and than Darian will proceed to drape himself over Sev's back, easing the pain of too many hours of standing over surgery tables with the warmth he naturally puts off.

1) Sev's insistance that he put everything into exactly the right place. Darian's system of storing things is more organic, and more malable than Severus's, and they always fight about how something should be stored where.
2) Sev's habit of needing to be everywhere early. Severus always gets pissy when he's late (a habit that he's picked up from his mother). The later they are, the more frustrated and snappish Severus gets, and Dar doesn't actually like getting yelled at all that much.
One he hates:
3) Sev's borderline alcoholism. It's not that Darian doesn't understand why Severus feels he needs to drown in a bottle from time to time, he does. Seeing that much blood and gore would get to anybody, but knowing that the person on the table might die if you're not god would break the strongest person. Darian gets that, he really does. But he wishes, sometimes, in the privacy of his thoughts, that Severus wouldn't push himself so much, try so hard for so little thanks. Surgeons, especially trauma surgeons in a bad part of town rarely get any decent thanks. But there's something pushing Severus to be the best and save the most, and Darian wishes from time to time that he could silence that critical little voice, if only for a while.
