...if you actually intend to ever WRITE fic about this series, you have to stop reading it first.

Translation: I WILL write something but for right now OMG YAY FIC. *twirls*

OMG I really want to! Unfortunately Carolyn makes noise ALL DAY LONG and doesn't nap and I'm about to go crazy argh.

Basically though when I get theoretical 'quiet time' I sit and read fic instead lol. FAIL! Though not really, cause it's GREAT stuff. ♥ newfound fandoms :D

Sometimes your writing brain needs to build up momentum by reading other fic. And sometimes you just need a break. *hugs*

Heehee, that is always the conundrum! I'm delighting so much in the fic in this fandom, it's the first time in a long time I've participated in a very prolific one. :D Do you have any particular recs? I'm kind of fumbling about blindly right now.

I LOVE your journal layout, by the way. That smileyface! Oh Sherlock <3

Hee, thank you! I couldn't resist the browns, it's so purdy :D

It's very possible the fics I'll rec are old standbys that everyone should know, but as I'm a newbie, I dunno! So here you go!

My biggest rec right now is one I had to persuade myself to read and now that I have I think it's my favorite fanwork of all time, srsly. Have you read His Dark Materials at all? It's the 3 book series started by the Golden Compass, the one with everyone's souls are external in the form of daemons. There's a one-shot and a longer fic that's a fusion of Sherlock and HDM, basically just using the concepts of daemons in the world of Sherlock... it's just seriously stunning. I get chills. It's John/Sherlock with an additional awesome... I'll stop and link it, haha.

This is the one-shot, it's Mycroft-centric. Asteroidea by etothepii

This is the longer fic:
Highly Intelligent, Observant, and Destructive When Bored also by etothepiinote: I may have been so overcome with joy I forgot to comment. I should do that! *facepalm ( ... )

*flails hands around* I LOVE His Dark Materials!!! It was one of the staples of my adolescence. When I needed a good cry I would read the end of the third one. And the concept of daemons is so wonderful, I am over the moon that someone applied it to Sherlock! THANK YOU for such a wonderful rec, I can't wait!!

I actually haven't read ANY of these, so again, thank you! Since you're also new to fandom maybe I'll return the favor and link a couple of my favorites so far? Maybe you've read them, maybe not!

Everything by verityburns, which you can find in her fic index. The Road Less Traveled was her first fic and definitely my favorite - it'll probably stick as my definitive "Sherlock and John fall slowly, exquisitely in love" story for a while.

I'll bet you've heard of this one, but just in case: Alone on the Water. I made the mistake of reading this immediately after finishing Reichenbach Fall and I was a MESS. A sobbing, snotty mess. It's so painful but so beautifully written. That author has also apparently done a long long AU in which John ( ... )

EEE I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. Legit goosebumps, I can't wait till you read that, you must come back and tell me how you liked it, please?

YAY I haven't read any of these yet, as I sort of... wasn't sure how to find the 'fandom favorites' like SGA's, you know? It seems like everyone knew the best fics in SGA, but for Sherlock I see fics being referred to by acronym but never seem to actually suss out what they're talking about! Heh.

Speaking of SGA, I have a massive SGA/Sherlock crossover brewing, and I'm seriously so excitedddddddd... /squees.

TYTYTY! \o/
