Friday night, my Kung Fu nephew Andrew and I worked out and talked at length about Wing Chun. It has something of an odd history, as martial sciences go. Ving Tsun is like SHARKS! Once you reach evolutionary perfection, only small tweaks are needed. Sharks have been sharks for hundreds of millions of years. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

“Secret, forbidden techniques, things reserved only for masters and such?”

I look forward to learning such techniques...one day. Until then, as Sifu has taught me: Don't expect. Don't compare. Don't ask.

Quite true. But ... my whole point about all that "secret technique" poppycock is that many of Wing Chun's mundane techniques, done properly, ARE the "masters only" techniques of other styles. I've always been amused by how Wing Chun just kinda downplays them. "What? The 'No-Shadow' technique? Yeah, we call that Pak Dar. It's the second drill you learn as a beginner."

Ya gotta love that.

Hi from Sal... rhiannonirene March 15 2006, 15:27:08 UTC
Cal,

I work with a gentleman I think you might know, and I said I would say hi. His name is Sal (Saverio) Sanfratello. He trains/ teaches/ and/ or owns (?) an organization called Aegis Consulting. They do weapons training I believe...

Anywho - he's a work acquaintance and he's always talking about his group and Ren Fest etc... and your name came up. He said he saw you once or twice a year at different events and he was very familiar with KOI - he had a lot of nice things to say about the KOI organization.

He asked me to say hi; and I did. Hope you're well! I'm off the next two weeks - is a coffee date a possibility?

Very cool! Give Sal my greetings and well-wishes. And yeah, a coffee date can definitely happen. We have tons to talk about I'm certain.
