I'm sure that by now most of my flist has heard about the JK Rowling vs RDR plagiarism/fair use trial. If you haven't already seen it, praetorianguard has written an interesting analysis of the legal aspects of the case.

More importantly, when I mentioned it to soleta, she directed me to a really fucking fantastic legal smackdown.

I love this Kurt Denke. Don't know him but love the guy already.
Bullies getting their comeuppance in public, yes!

This is something the guy who awards the True Stella Awards would love to read, too. He's trying to wage a war on frivolous lawsuits by drawing attention to them through his award and attempting tort reform. And no, please ignore the fake Stella awards sent round every year, nothing to do with Cassingham.

That's heartening to hear. Too often, court cases are fictionalized or grossly oversimplified in order to make them easily accessible to an audience, but only at the expense of what makes them intellectually stimulating.
