So I borrowed this anime unknowingly from a friend (borrowed a whole binder of dvd's from him), unaware that I would have no clue what was happening. Can someone tell me WTF? Robots grow from his head????

Also is there more than 6 episodes?

I forgot to show you FLCL? Jeez... how silly of me. No there is no more than six episodes. Trust me... the less you think about it the more you'll understand and love the series.

Its actually REALLY REALLY deep and meaningful just like the end of Neoog Genaesis EVangeloion. That’s why when stupid people watch it their heads spload all over the TV. The robot coming out of his head is actually his inner ego which craves more substantial metaphysical sensual massages with the hot oils of existential awakening. The panty shots of the school girl are a visual representation of the lack of sex most anime viewers are getting.

There is nothing greater in any anime that I have seen (so like 4) than a robot pulling a guitar out of a beam of pure energy and the awed onlookers proclaiming "a 1961 Gibson EB-Zero!"
