Of course, the frustration that they cannot be publicly as affectionate or open just brings it home how difficult this is for them. Roy's reaction and stilted abilities to comfort and care for Tim when he was almost injured was really heartbreaking.
Also, terrific job on the language. It definitely has that middle-ages feel to it, and helps contextualize and set it all the better.

And I'm glad the language works for this, I tried to make it sound in the right ear, even changing Clint's name to Clinton - Clint just sounded to modern compared to everything else.
