Is there a character type that you fall for every time, e.g. the hero, the bad boy, the geek, the anti-hero?
I guess it's the bad boy. But not the 'bad-boy' bad boy, if you know what I mean. I like bad boy with style and (a little) purpose. A kind of characters that really believe he's doing the right thing, whether it's for the good side or the bad side, but it's the 'right thing' according to his own doctrine. Like Taishakuten who was doing all those beastly nasty thing because, well, he got a promise to keep. Draco who was doing all those stuff because, erm, he's so clueless? hee hee.. Anakin who was troubled beyond repair. Pyro who's social exiled.. so on.. XD
The Geek is the second type that I always fall for. Especially the cute geek like Marshall and inner-geek like Spy!Dad Jack Bristow.
What about sex in fic--must have; can take it or leave it; how many times can you insert Tab A into Slot B?
As well as it suits the story, I can read fics that have it all as well as a G rated. Like I said, as long as it suits the story. A quick smut is also good when you wanna get off so bad but don't have much time (or when you're bored to death in the office.. whahaha) while a lengthy novella gives another form of satisfaction.
But what I don't like when reading sex scene is the 'routine'. You know, like the kind of scene you would see in gay porn (belami, if you much know :p) ... like 1. Oh, we have the same 'mutual understanding' 2. Let's kiss. 3. That's hot, let me blow you. (and/or rim you; and/or eat you in terms of femslash) 4. Now it's time for a fuck. ... one finger, two finger, (three is optional) and here comes da thing and 5. The end! (and happily ever after XD) ...
I mean, okay.. that's teh 'standard', but if you have like, four sex scenes in one fic, can't you at least think of some variation?
Slash, het, gen, or give me it all, babe?
Tho I tend to lend toward slash, I'd read anything if ppl recs to me. I mean, there's so much slash already in the HP and SW fandom it's hard to try to venture out and try the het ones. And most of the times that I tried, I ended up reading some Mary Sues, so... that's the bugger. :p

Angst, if that's what you called 'types' of stories. I also like adventure/mysterious, while Romance rarely catched my attention (if it's 'purely' romance and nothing else).
Kink is another interesting options. I like threesomes/foursomes and (insertyournumberhere)somes. I like bondage as long as it's not involve blood-play. I like toy-fuck. I like incest when it's not insanely 'father I love you so much' thing. I loveeee twincest (you know which twin I'm talking about XD)
I only have a few 'no-no' ... m-preg and crossdressing are two of them. I just... don't read those.

My OTP? C-3PO and R2-D2! Apart from that I'd read just anything. I tend to lean towards some pairing in particular, but that doesn't mean the party involved in said pairings won't 'get together' with others. Actually I don't really understand those who defend their 'OTP' so blindly they can't except that other people have their imagination too. I just don't get it at all.

Talking about kinks. I just read 'Detective Conan' #44 last night. And .. OMG, if you have read it. Do you see Kid/Conan like I see? I mean, ok, Conan is in the body of an 8 years old boy, but he's in fact a grown up. And the comparison between a life of a theif and a life of a crime-solving detective... *the wheels on myrrh's head is turning*
