I'd add Barley Hall to York. It's not so big but it's worth a visit. And York Castle Museum.

On your to-do list, if you're down Stonehenge way try seeing Avebury too. I prefer it, probably because you can get up close, and also the whole landscape round there is... I was going to say "magical" but I don't mean new-age magical!

You must know the Lake District is my favourite place anywhere. I hope you get there some time. Also the north-east: Northumberland. You can't move without falling over a castle!
