Any CAT5 ethernet cable will be fine. Wireless internet isn't very common here at all, let alone the kind of free wireles we're used to in places like Starbucks.
Plugs are fine as long as both of the leads on the charger are the same size, since outlets in Japan have two equally sized sockets. The voltage is slightly lower, so things might charge slightly slower, but it's not enough to damage your stuff.
Wireless just hasn't really caught on here. I was thinking about it yesterday and decided that since Japanese people tend to use their cellphones for email much more than they do in in Western countries, wireless access wouldn't be used as much

Ah, well that is a simple solution.... even with a power strip. Just break the ground prong off, or rather, pull it out. I've had to do that when I lived in old buildings in the US.
This isn't an answer to a question of yours, just a response to your one month trip to study.
I went to study for three months and it just wasn't long enough. I was in class five days a week, six hours a day, and while I learned a lot and formed a strong foundation, what I really learned was that three months was not enough.
My biggest regret about that trip (and one of the biggest in my life) is that I didn't stay a full year.
I don't mean to assume where you are in your studies. If you are far along already and this is for a little exposure then it will be great. Well, it will be great anyhow, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts on short visits for study.
The program I'm going through is only for one month, there isn't an option to stay longer. I also can't really stay too long, I have a husband and a house to return to.
But, thanks. :-)
Maybe I will learn enough Japanese with this trip that I can get my butt back into studying and maybe do something like JET later on.
In a city called Royal City Okazaki. Its in Aichi prefecture, i think an hour south of Nagoya by train. Yamasa non-profit school. It had lots of program, and I was in there regular ol' program. Tiny little school, great staff members and teachers.

Most of anything anymore has two different sized prongs. So, I should come with an adapter?
Do the outlets have a ground as well?
