Not the Tories. Please please not the Tories.

This has been doing the rounds for weeks now, but I might as well link anyway: the Conservatives really haven't got much better on queer issues. I'm still waiting for a proper sign that they're willing to try combating queerphobia rather than squarely aligning themselves with it.

and while I have a liking for some individual Tories (the dad of one of my daughter's schoolfriends is MP for Uxbridge, and seems nice enough) I particularly hate and fear the Consevatives en masse. I shall be voting Lib Dem in an hour's time, because that's the best chance I have of unseating our Tory MP. I am a Labour voter usually, but have been actively supporting the Green Party in other elections, partly because Peter Tatchell is one and partly because the only way to get a government to change its policies seems to be to embarrass or pressure it into action.

But today there is no time for voting with my heart or voting for a party: it is just a matter of voting against the Tories.
