Yes, when we extract DNA from the saliva on the collar, we find that not only can we narrow the suspects down to members of the canid family, but it so happens that the animal had a rare genotype... and the toothmark pattern on the muskrat's jaw clearly shows that the predator was missing its upper right canine...
