It chills my blood when I realize how long I lied to myself about this.

The first time I wrote my fears and doubts down was in May, 2006. By June, I could partially admit all the things that never changed, but there was always an excuse, reason, hope that kept me where I was. That pushed me farther into it than I wanted to go.
