Jones Apologetic

I don't understand the complaints against this film, really I don't. It delivers exactly what every other Jones film does, save for one thing: Indiana Jones fighting Nazis. But honestly, Indy has had his fill of the Nazis at this point, I mean; the man rode on the back of a German U-boat, a Panzer, and he even met freaking Adolf Hitler. How many ( Read more... )

I JUST got back from seeing it, and I LOVED it! The only thing I didn't really care for was the Von Danikenism, but that pretention was entirely secondary. But overall, I thought it was a wonderful, well-executed and often hysterical homage. I was practically in tears when Indy survived the nuclear blast... OF COURSE he survived it: he's Indiana Jones!!

I'm surprised that people are harping on the Commie-smashing. I mean, first it's a 1950's B-movie so of course there are going to be Commies and Cold War paranoia. Second, I dunno', maybe it has to do with how our society has absolved Communism of its evils even though Communists killed 10 times as many people in 20th century as did Nazis. Maybe there's a kind of reactionary fashionability to being anti-anti-Commie?

Oh man dude, I knew we were in for some good times as soon as Indy walked into the curiously deserted town in the middle of the desert. Honestly I had a great time with Indy, I loved it, there were a few slow parts but overall it was just wonderful. It also accurately portrayed how absolutely and inherently, evil, sadistic and dangerous large groups of monkeys are.

I even like Indy's son, and I was sure I wouldn't because I hated that guy in Transformers. But as a short-tempered greeser he was great! People who complain about this movie are just jerks.

Monkeys? Come on, the monkeys helped! Even monkeys don't like Commies. Oh yeah, and I totally laughed at Shia doing a Johnny Weismuller impression ^_^

The jock vs. greaser fight in the soda shop was pretty awesome too ^_^ I also enjoy that they teased a baton-pass but shot it down in the same breath.

The monkeys only looked like they were helping, in reality, they were using monkey magic to cause all kind of bad shit to go down where you least expect it. I wouldn't even surprised if they had a hand in the Cuban Missile Chrisis ( ... )
