My Chemical Romance doing Bikini Kill.

Imagine Gerard Way singing Rebel Girl!

When she talks, I hear the revolutions
In her hips, there's revolutions
When she walks, the revolution's coming
In her kiss, I taste the revolutionSometimes I want to do MCR as a riot grrrl band without doing a gender swap. I think ( Read more... )

...My dream MCR cover is Let me be your dirty fucking whore by Machine Gun Fellatio. I think it would actually cause the world to explode by sheer wrongness.

Speaking MCR and riot grrl, have you read that fic where Frank is a transman, and Gerard is a giant fan of all riot grrl literature and sings in a band named after Valerie Solanas? It's an interesting read.

Yes I am too, but who am I really? and it's sequel (featuring lesbian folk singer, William Beckett and transman Pete) Remember who you are

They aren't the best fics in the world, but they're an unusual thing, I feel in fanfic in general.

Yeah, I've read them! I actually really like them, though, as you say -- there are problems. I think that they are a fascinating take on gender issues, actually. I loved the characterization of Gerard in general, even though I think the whole William/Pete subplot thing in the sequel was oddly handled.

Mmmm, genderfuckary. So tasty.

Oh, and I remember loving the idea that you would call a feminist punk band Valerie. That is gold, srsly.

Yeah, I really enjoyed a lot of them, the way that the trans issues were handled in the fic. It rang really true. My big issue was the Pete/William subplot thing too. I was really divided on the Gerard characterisation, sometimes it was so scarily awesome, and at others I didn't feel it at all.

But yes, genderfuckery for the win. And Valerie is the perfect name for feminist punk bands. I want to actually exist!

I think most of my issues with Gerard in that thing had to do with the Pete/William subplot, so, I sort of group all of it together?

But in all, I really enjoyed the story, especially all the trans issues. It felt really honest. I think that part of it worked fantastically.

Want to be in a feminist punk band with me and call it Valerie? I have no musical talent, but that's okay! We're punk rock! I can probably teach myself to play three chords.

Hell, if Sid Vicious could play in a punk band, than so can I.

Yay, new friends! I am more than amenable, I am positively joyful!! I'm glad you have the same cracked out taste in what MCR should do as I do, yo.

Oh, and dude, I totally feel you on the "should be studying instead wasting time front." Not only do I screw around on the internet, I also bake when I should be working -- my friends can totes tell how much I had due by how many cupcakes I made.

currently in the oven: mexican hot chocolate cupcakes. yum.
