Andy Hurley's Nike Sponsored Work-Out.

Okay, look. Andy Hurley, I don't want to be one of those fans. You know the sort of fans I mean - the ones that get all bitchy about corporate sponsership or constantly claim that their beloved bands are selling out. I'm not one of those fans, in general. For fuck's sake, I didn't mind the Honda Civic Tour at ( Read more... )

Dude, seriously? I mean, my sister in law works for nike, so I can't hate too much, but Andy Hurley? LAST person I ever thought would do a corporate thing. Weird. My world view has been shattered. DDDDD:

I KNOW.

"So, for Christmas this year, get your kids lots of Nikes."

HE IS GOING TO MAKE ME CRY. I can't believe I am actually disappointed by this, how lame is that?

Like, I would have expected him to do it for something like TOMS, but Nike?

We're way to invested in this sort of thing, but I guess that's part of being a fan? We're hardcore. But seriously. Nike?!

Although I get the feeling he's laughing hysterically somewhere at the fandom uproar he is causing (and then donating all the money from the thing to organizations that work to end child labor/promote worker's rights).

Yeah, I see what you mean -- he's clearly laughing somewhere.

But still. He's endorsing them! That's major wtfuckery.

It's totally uncool. Man, I'm really bummed out now.
Oh Andy. I hope you do something noble with the sponsorship money, or it's revealed that you just wanted to get closer to the Nike management to set off an eco-terrorist attack or something.

I know.

I really respect Andy, too. Even when he was like, "Look, it's hard balancing my ideals with my life style, but you do what you gotta do," because I GET THAT. You do do what you gotta do. BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACTIVELY SPONSOR SWEATSHOPS.

Even if like, the money goes directly to the Best Cause Ever, it is still not cool, because he ENDORSED them.

... that being said, I think eco-terrorism would be acceptable.

Edit: changed the past tense on "respect." he don't deserve that.
