I'm dead tired. Like, seriously, unspeakably tired --- so, instead of actually writing a real entry or anything, I'm just going to make a list of a few things I have learned today, my first day of helping out at the clinic in Maseru, Lesotho. I didn't know you were going to Africa! You're helping at a clinic? THAT IS SO COOL. What sort of stuff are you going to be doing? Are you there on a program, or did you just sort of decide "I'm going to go work at a clinic in Africa"? How long are you going to be there?

I can't wait to hear about all your adventures!

It has been really cool! Exhausting and heart-breaking some times, but really cool.

In terms of what I'm going to be doing, at the start I've just been shadowing around a few doctors and helping out where I can -- sorting out charts, putting up books in the stock rooms, that sort of thing. Over the next few days, though, I'm going to be helping with reading and play therapy -- in other words, I'm going to play with severely malnourished kids to try and get their senses and brains working. It's very important to development!

And it's a combination of just deciding and going on a program -- my school has a winter term thing where we're supposed to find internships. My parents are actually friends with the people I'm staying with who run the clinic, so instead of following one of the school-provided internships, I set this up. I'm going to be here for about three weeks, or until the twenty-third.

Thanks! I'm totes excited.

Thanks for the respect, but I'm mostly impressed by the people that do this for years. I've done this for like four days now and I'm exhausted.

I'm with my cousin and we are staying with a family friend.
