Anyone read the comic strip "For Better or For Worse?" It's a 29-year-old comic about a family; it began in the late 70's with the two protagonists being newly married and parents. It seems weird to me, too. I'm trying to think of an adequate analogy, but I think you already did that in your post. I, for one, wouldn't want either a rehashed comic strip OR a double-knitted scarf.
