I already commented on Facebook. Ignore my vitriol. It is a topic that has been an issue with me since learning the founding fathers owned slaves at a tender young age and then being continually disappointed after that by most things considered nostalgic or moral or wholesome once I got through that facade to what people and society really did. I find there are a few individuals who stand up to scrutiny, but as people groups, generalities, and a nation we've always failed the big tests.

As far as childhoods go, I am not surprised even kids of the depression had good memories. It is kind of the nature of childhood where we are not yet aware of much more than our self and nature. It all goes back to the poet Coleridge and nostalgia. Society could be crap but kids in nature and a small circle of goodness don't notice that small detail until they are inflicted with awareness. I hate awareness. Its like being thrust out of Eden onto our butts with little warning.
