and since I made it here, I can make it anywhere

I started my cardiology placement on Monday; I'm out at a rural district general hospital, with four other students. When we arrived for induction, at the very civilised time of 10am, we were taken to see the students' common room. It's a little outhouse with a microwave, sink, fridge, sofa and TV. Above the TV there's a whiteboard, on which the ( Read more... )

I did O&G and Paeds in the summer, so I feel your pain ;) For what it's worth, to get to Chertsey for 8.30 tomorrow, we'll have to leave at 7.15 (my firm-mate drives us there. in his new Audi A3. seriously.), so that means I'll be up at 6.15. And when I was in Kent for GP, I was having to commute 2 hours each way, which involved walking through Brixton at 7.30am... another story for another time.

I actually leave the house at 7 (S lives a bit of a walk away) but nevertheless, that does mean I spend three times as long as you do getting ready... partially it's because I have self-esteem issues and can't leave the house without makeup and straightened hair, but vanity only takes 20 minutes at most - my problem is that I'm slow to get dressed, and slow to eat breakfast.

I miss you too! I keep thinking about you, especially when driving, because I remember that saga - you had a really sexist, racist instructor, didn't you? My instructor is generally great, though I feel I tempted fate by praising him in this entry - tonight he did make a few remiss comments about women drivers' crapness (and also, commenting on a female pedestrian's figure, then adding, "oh, you've got a figure too, don't get me wrong" - if I hadn't got such a good impression of him from the first 5 lessons, that would have moved him right up the creepy scale).

Your life sounds wonderful atm, glad to hear it! :D

I shall bear in mind what you say about driving too, as I am at the '"I can't afford it", "I don't need it," "what if I'm really awful and I crash and everybody dies?"' stage right now.

That picture is roflcopter as you would say...

That picture is significantly less roflcopter if it is an accurate depiction of where you've lived since July :(

You really ought to start learning - the only issue for me has been finding the money, but it's got to the stage where my parents are happy to pay - I will need to drive when I start work, unless they want to be ferrying me to and from night shifts!

In a little more than 20 months' time, I'll (hopefully) be working as a doctor :D
