lololol you've been absent from lj but your s6 thoughts accurately match like 90% of the people on my flist. YANA. Series 6 was a hot mess full of offensive bullshit, incomprehensible authorial decisions, illogical character behaviour, and general embarassing wtf-ery. The "I'm watching for the odd good episode" thing is exactly how I feel as well. Girl Who Waited was probably my favourite episode in Moffat's era so far, but Let's Kill Hiter? The Wedding of River Song? Awful, awful, awful. Oh, Moffat.
lol, good to know I'm not alone. Yeah, I just don't know with this series. I'll keep watching for the gem that comes up now and then (which is pretty much always written by someone other than Moffat lol), but it really feels like I'm just waiting for a new head writer, to be honest. Speaking of new comers, have Amy and Rory left now...? If they have, there'll be a new companion, which should prove interesting.
Haha me too. I quite liked a lot of the non-Moffat episodes! But the Moffat episodes and the overarching story of the series? Blech.
Amy and Rory haven't left yet, they're leaving next season, it was just announced. It was ambiguous whether they're leaving mid-season or what. GOD PONDS, I LIKE YOU, BUT GTFO. They haven't progressed as characters since series 5 because Moffat wouldn't allow them to have any realistic emotions or responses to the loss of their only child. They've both been through serious psychological trauma and near-death and the Doctor treats them like shit, PLUS they've already "left" like 3 times, but apparently they have to come back and travel on the TARDIS MORE before they finally leave for good (and what do you want to bet it won't be by choice?). UGHHHHH. They need to have a chat with Dr Jones.
Ohh, I see. I really need to go get caught up on fandom news stuff rofl. Oh man, I do hope they leave pretty soon. I do really like them both (probably way more than the Doctor in series 6 honestly), but it feels like we've had the same cast forever (even if it has only actually been 2 series THAT'S A LONG TIME FOR DOCTOR WHO).
And yeah, ia, their character arc (or lack of one) is something that's really annoyed me throughout their run. lolol Martha should totally tell them to gtfo and move on already.
Yeah, it's pretty much gotten to the point where I'm just going to have to wait for a new showrunner to start loving this show again. I'm still going to watch it because I am ~loyal~, but I'm not excited with where Moffat has taken/is taking the show.
DEFINITELY GET ON THAT, GIRL. I don't want to spoil you so I'm not going to like, cryptically hint at shit, but you need to watch it.
Yep, same. I just kept (and will continue) watching for the odd excellent episode in a disaster of a series arc, but I'll be so much happier once Moffat goes. It's a shame, too, because I really do think Matt and co are good actors, and I think Eleven, Amy and Rory could be great if written under a different head writer.
Oh. I like, just watched the finale an hour ago and omg omg omg. SO MANY FEELINGS. And ugh, like 9 months to wait now, aaah.
Haha, well, it did have its moments. There were certain episodes I really loved. But... much of it I just couldn't like, really. idk, I think it's Moffat's writing... just not for me I guess.
