I bet Teyla isn't as thrown by amalgam holidays as Ronon is, but I'm sure the food fixation of people near their holiday is pretty weird for all the Pegasus aliens. Also, I love that sudden artistic temperament is enough to make the soldiers nervous. The show doesn't delve much into the way an isolated group entertains itself, but I wonder if McKay has some reason never to have played for people before. Surely there were several times before re-contact when all the movies were old and no one could take another game of hallway soccer when people started to sing and play for each other. Thanks for writing!
Her surprise and horror lasted no more than a second, and only showed at all that first time. Ever since, she had been offering him tidbits from her plate, apparently under the impression that food sharing was a Satedan custom.
I could *see* her face!
and Ronon thinking turkey is dry and tasteless and the non-musical people who suddenly evolved overnight into accomplished (or at least enthusiastic) musicians..
And this--
He sighed. "Besides, we'll need Ronon."
Ronon blinked. "I don't know anything about engineering."
"Really? I'm shocked." He closed his eyes briefly, which meant he was trying very hard to be polite.
Because it's *Christmas*! *g*
And this--
"It doesn't matter if you aren't fast as long as you're relentless.
is the best description of how to play "Carol of the Bells" *ever*!
I had this friend from Bulgaria once, and she said that Bularians couldn't understand why anybody ate turkey at all, let alone save it up for a special holiday and get excited about it.
Turkey eggs, on the other hand, were just fine....
Wonderful! I like what you've done with Ronon. There are times in the eps when Ronon and Teyla exchange looks that just scream "Crazy Earth people" This captured that perfectly. There are times when it feels like a monthlong celebration to me too. Good stuff.
