Northern Portugal

Coimbra
Coimbra has one of the oldest Universities in Europe. A beauitful old city south of Porto. With very tight and steep streets... it was kind of an adventure to get the Bus through there and to our hotel.
( Arriving there around noon, we spent the rest of the day in the city. ) -
Vargos
I have never been to Portugal before, so I wanted to have been near the sea at least a few days. So we drove on westwards and reached Vargos just at the time, the football game Germany vs Serbia started. We watched this desaster in a little sports bar. First stop in Portugal - Melo near Gouveia
In Portugal we found a very nice little campsite "Quintas das Cegonhas" and we decided to stay for three nights. We met some very nice Dutch people and even shared dinner with some of them one night, with very interesting conversations about the Dutch and German history ( Read more... ) -
Northern Spain
In Northern Spain we planned to drive to Pamplona to spend the night there. But then we reached an artificial lake, which was really beautiful, all turquoise waters and much nice landscape. The "campsite" where we spent the night was lousy, but the VIEW! :D

France, Spain, Portugal and back again in two weeks
Three weeks ago, Jan and me started our vacation... a trip down to Portugal, but without any planning before. We just put the camping stuff and the bicycles into the VW Bus from our friends and drove off on a sunny Friday noon. We had two weeks for the whole journey.
Balu was absolutely thrilled about the Bus and the packing
