This is gorgeous. Your turns of phrase are really lovely and his conflicted self contemplation, and that on his negative mirror image and his other half are awesome.

Sherlock argues stubbornly with himself that if Moriarty were still alive, he wouldn't even make the list at all. He might still be solvable. But the trail went cold and bloody and dead on the rooftop of a hospital and that's all there is to that.
Oooh, I can see Sherlock thinking of it in just this way. Possibly with a great huff, and some throwing himself onto the couch.

I love when a writer can go into Sherlock's brain and write a story in his voce! Really good!
