Fight School: The Movie Contest!
Good Afternoon Happy Campers! Fight School is officially making this contest thingy (technical term: "Thingy") Official!!!
Here's the scoop, In between the dates of October 1st and October 31, 2008; you (in the collective sense of the word 'you'), will send an email to:
fightschoolboys at gmail dot com (change the 'at' to @ and the 'dot' to . really though... you should know all this by now.)
In the email... please include your name and contact information. Should your entry be selected, we would like to have a way of letting you know this. (Go Figure.) Please attach your Fight School Centric Movie idea/story/script. Ideally, we are not looking for an EPIC tale that will span the length of time of say the Lord of the Rings Trilogy... or even so much as the length of just one episode from said trilogy. Short, fun stories that deal with our characters and have fighting involved. If we find a few stories that are great AND short... we may film each of them and put them all on one disk. (That has yet to be determined, as we haven't read any of your stories yet.)
We reserve the right to alter in small/large amounts your storyline to fit the context of what/where we're filming and as we love to goof off, Ad-libbing may be inevitable. As the author of the selected piece, you will also be offered a role in said movie, however, the casting of all roles will be done by Fight School Films. (Sorry, but it's going to be hard enough keeping track of everything else needing to be done... it will simplify things if we are in control of this as well.)
Please bear in mind also, that as we would love to have as many of our friends in this/these movie(s) as we possibly can... however, everyone may not be available for our shooting schedule, SAG Regs, etc. (So basically, as an example, don't write a role for Sir Nigel Hack from Hack & Slash, as he may be in Ohio or elsewhere when we shoot.) It would be best if your entry only involved the 4 members of Fight School in your story, that way, we can throw our friends in wherever we can, either as their own character (from the festival) or a new one that you've written. (We are all actors to some degree, so it shouldn't be that difficult for anyone to play a different role.)
Finally, and here is the sucktastic part of this experience. This will be a labor of love <3, therefore, we will not be paying anyone to make these films. This will be a low to no-budget comedy/action romp. We will all be volunteering our time and energies to this cause. I'm certain that on filming days, food will be provided, but when we sell these movies, there will be no residuals/cuts/percentages paid out to anyone. (Except to Fight School Films... and even those funds will be paying back; up-front costs, back-end costs, and the rest being split between new projects and possibly some charitable contributions....and yes, our beer fund qualifies as a charitable contribution) However, this will be an experience that any "TRUE" Fight School Fan would relish. Truly a tale to tell/show your children.
