Federal same-sex marriage amendment fails...

So, over two years ago when Bush & Co. were running for re-election, they made a huge deal out of their support for a Constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, even though it was clear that such an amendment would never be ratified. Except I'd take it a step further, and just get the government out of the issue of social contracts altogether. Marriage is an contract, and the 10th amendment is supposed to keep the government out of contracts between consenting adults. Just do away with government recognized marriage OR civil unions OR whatever.

Less is more.
