Yup, me and bandwagons ^__-
This is a Veronica Mars fanfic challenge to get YOU to write your very own 'twisted tale'.
The gist of the whole things is this:
You sign up, telling me what you will absolutely never ever write and I'll assign you a fairy tale AND a twist (the twist doesn't have to be the main plot point of your story).
Your challenge is to incorporate said fairy tale and your twist into the VM universe.
To make things interesting, there will be categories:
scary tale - best angst
merry tale - best humor
vary tale - best AU
airy tale - best fluff
fiery tale - hottest smut
The rules:
1. Sign-up is until February 28th. I'll start sending out the assignments by February 5th.
2. Entries must be at least 1,000 words and submitted by March 22nd.
3. You can post your story anywhere (your LJ, LJ fic communities, your homepage, ...) and x-post wherever you like.
4. You can post your contribution as a comment to this post: http://dasq.livejournal.com/7645.html?mode=reply with the following information:

And then a LINK to where your story is located. Please do NOT post the full story in the comment.
Please don’t say what your fairy tale and twist was at the beginning of the story (too spoilerific in most cases, I guess ^_-), but at the end of your story so the readers can judge how well you fulfilled your assignment.
5. Be creative (heh). I really don't want to read a mere fairy tale retelling, something along the lines 'Once upon a time, there was a girl named Veronica, but everyone called her Cinderella because she slept by the hearth in the ashes. Her evil stepmom Celeste and her evil stepsisters Madison and Pam forced her to work all day. But then Prince Logan, in search of a bride, arranged a ball....'
Just look at what '10 things I hate about you' made out of 'The taming of the shrew', or how 'Cruel Intentions' used the plot of 'Dangerous Liaisons' and you'll know what I mean ^_-
6. Please have your story beta-read. There are great places in the fandom for that, take advantage of them!
7. If you can't write your story for some reason, please e-mail me so I can give your assignment to somebody else.
8. Winners will be announced early April. You'll receive a shiny award courtesy of my questionable Photoshop talents ;)
If you signed up and don't receive your assignment until February 28th, please drop me an e-mail. My account's been acting up, and the mail I sent you might have been lost.
FAQ:
You can write about any character / pairing you wish. Depending on the fairy tale you were assigned, some naturally work better than others.
How you interpret your fairy tale and your twist is entirely up to you.
The twist HAS to 'twist' the story. Meaning, if a similar twist occurs in the fairy tale anyway, it doesn't count! You still have to embody your twist in your story.
If you don't know your assigned fairy tale, check gutenberg.org. Most stories are available there in full text.
