First of all, Spearsville, LA, is practically not a part of Louisiana, it's NORTH of Shreveport and practically in Alambama. (That's way far north of I-10 for those of you in Lafayette. lol) Second of all--why does the article say "New Orleans, LA" in the beginning?! This town is about 50 miles from Texarkana and about 350 miles from New Orleans!!! W.T.F.?!?! Lastly, since when did CNN need to produce stories that are literally based on 5th grade rumors? Like there's nothing better to report. Seriously.

The dateline is New Orleans because that is the (according to the Associated Press) nearest big city and probably where the story was produced by the Associated Press. (There, that's what you get out of my journalism degree today. Though, honestly, it shouldn't say N.O. It should say Shreveport or a much closer big city. They are being far too regional.)
I'm with you on the fifth grade rumors. They should have more proof, but school stuff is big stuff and this is way too juicy to pass up in their book. *sigh*

Unfortunately, yes. If anyone knows what rednecks are capable of, it's me.
