TV News - Inuyasha and the Big Bang theory

So about a month ago Beth and I finished up Inuyasha: The Final Act. The series itself felt like I was on a training going like 500mph with no way to stop it. My parents watch Big Bang Theory when they're free when it's airing. I...have some serious issues with the show, not least
1) the treatment of Penny in the context of the show
2) that Sheldon's autism-spectrum disorder is played for laughs.

But if you enjoy it, more power to you. I think that the effort to show nerds as "cool" is interesting.

Interesting. I haven't gotten to where they've revealed that Sheldon has autism so I guess that is a bit problematic. (Surprised that autism rights organizations haven't spoken out about that and caused a stir).

As for Penny I guess again that I've only gotten 6 episodes into it. She doesn't seem particularly "dumb" if that's what you mean. She's played very much as a typical woman who isn't into geeky things. My wife was like that before we'd been dating/married for a while and both of us can attest to the fact that this is pretty accurate. So she isn't dumb per se but just doesn't understand the jargon that they use.

Unless I've totally missed your point about Penny...otherwise I don't see what the problem can be.

I haven't watched more than a few episodes of the show at various points, so I doubt they've ever named what Sheldon's problem is, but my impression is that he's pretty clearly somewhere on the autism spectrum. (he goes well beyond socially clueless - Raj is clueless, Wolfowitz is tacky, but Sheldon clearly has some sort of disorder ( ... )
