One of the things that has blown my mind ever since i've been in the frozen northern tundra is that bike enthusiasm seems to run rampant. Don't get me wrong. I love bike riding. When I lived in Florida we went everywhere on our bikes, but that was Florida. Florida has good bike riding weather for 11 months out of the year. Milwaukee is one of those ( Read more... )

Those of us raised in the northern areas are more used to cooler temperatures and do not generally see any reason that we can't bicycle in the spring and fall as well as in the (short but sweet) summer. Say late April through October. That's plenty of time to ride for those of us used to having different seasons ( ... )

I understand your point about bicycling in the frigid months but I can't imagine that when its 40 degrees out that it really is comfortable for anyone to bicycle in those little bicycle shorts.

My point about riding in traffic is that even though the law is on the side of the bicyclist such that any contact with a car is automatically the car driver's fault, I can't imagine ever riding a bike in such a circumstance. That's not because I don't think that I could ride a bike correctly, its because I don't trust the cars and even though the law would be on my side I'd hate to pit the law of the land vs the laws of physics. A lawsuit would do me no good if I'm dead ( ... )
