[Rory's calmed down a little after talking to his fuzzy blue roommate. He's relieved to find that he's neither dead or about to be dead (hopefully) and while he hasn't found a shirt yet he's in a pretty good mood.]

Uhm. Hello! [he waves.] My name is Rory. Williams. Rory Williams. Yes. And I'm from Earth. Leadsworth, if it helps ( Read more... )

Hi. It's real enough; if it's a fake it's very convincing.

This is Coruscant. Someone else from Earth, huh? What's it like, anyway?

Earth is... well. It's big. And blueish. [A brainwave occurs. He's in Star Wars land, right? Use Star Wars terms!] It's a bit like Naboo, actually!

I've never been there. I have seen images. Surface water, huh?

We like to call it the ocean. [Deep down inside he feel such an immense sense of pride that he is in Star Wars and talking like he knows what he's doing where is Amy so that he can show off?]

Where are you from?

I've always wanted to see an ocean. They say that when there's enough surface water in one place, it has currents like air does, and there are layers in it for different kinds of life. Water life, life that can only live there. [It's kind of a bizarre concept to him. Back home if he's atop a two-story building and spits over the edge at double noon it won't hit the ground.]

Tatooine. Don't go there, it's boring.

I'd say that's about right, yeah. And the things that live in the water are called fish.

Big desert planet?

Some of them. Lunged things and animals without backbones live in water, too. And lunged things without backbones. And people, sometimes - just imagine what it's got to be like if you can rise and fall, like flying, but without land...

Yeah. Sand and rock and nasty things.

Only if you're a good swimmer. I've always been pretty rubbish at it myself, it's more like delayed drowning when I get in the water. [He smiles and shrugs self-consciously.]

You're from around here then? Not kidnapped like some of us?

I can't swim at all. Maybe I should learn.

I'm from way off in the future. In a few thousand years, the Republic will become the Empire, and I was born about then. Will be born? [Irritated] I never know what tenses to use.

It's not too hard. And there should be swimming pools here somewhere... right?

Oh- the Empire! That's Darth Vader, isn't it?

I've seen some on maps... It can't be that hard, can it?

[And here's an uneasy expression.] He's... part of it, yeah. The Emperor's right-hand man. I really don't know much about - him.

It isn't really. I suppose I could come along and make sure you don't drown if you like?

Oh. Me neither. Don't know a thing about him. Just a name I heard, that's all. [8|]

Drowning. Um. I'm... sure they have people there. [Suddenly, nervous! He forgot about that aspect of... well, water. Forgive him, he's never dealt with really large quantities of it before.]

They say he's a pilot. Or was, maybe... Well, he's not here, so I won't worry too much.

[oh that was the wrong thing to say. bother.] It's like taking a big bath, most of the time. It's pretty fun.

Yeah. Other things to worry about right now.

I haven't taken a bath yet, either. They just seem so... decadent. It would take most of a day's gather to fill a tub. [More pragmatically:] And that kind of thing wouldn't really get you clean, either, you're just wallowing in your own dirt.

- oh, I keep forgetting this part. I'm Luke, Luke Skywalker.

[He's going to ask about bathing in general, but other things are suddenly more important.

Pause. Stare. Stare some more. Laugh nervously.]

Sorry, I think I heard you wrong. What was that?
