[A charming smile greets the 'net as Jack quickly figures out how to use the datapad like a pro. It seems he also figured out the droid as he's currently wearing clothes closest to what he's used to, including a large blue greatcoat.]This is such a blast from my past. Datapads, holoprojectors... I almost feel like I'm back at the Agency. Anyway ( Read more... )

That can happen? Coming back and not remembering, I mean?

Apparently, since it seems to be what happened. Luckily I'm familiar with things like this happening.

Aren't you a little young to be on here unsupervised, kid?

Man... That's a little unsettling.

I'm thirteen. [Though as he's fully aware, he's a bit small for his age.] Really.

[Raises eyebrow, smiling]

Uhhuh. Well take care of yourself. Space ports are usually pretty dangerous places in my experience. Though you probably know that, huh?

This is the first time I've been off my homeworld. [Luke glances away and back.] But yeah, that's what they all say.

Were you pulled here too? [Suddenly feels pretty bad about a kid being ripped out of his time. Not cool, Revan.]

Please tell me you have someone in your life and you're not a Port urchin.

Yeah, a few weeks ago.

I'm thirteen - Tatooine thirteen, not upper city Coruscant. [He feels like he has to clarify that. Luke's come to think of upper city Coruscant kids as... well, soft.] Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself. [Which is only mostly true, but though Luke is a trusting and open kid, there are limits.]

[shakes his head, tutting.] Been through a number of wars now and it's always the kids that have it the worst.

I'm assuming Tatooine is your homeworld, then. [Barely stops himself from rolling his eyes at the idea of this kid taking care of himself.] Okay, kid. But you ever get in a rough scrape or can't find enough food you come let me know, alright? I've got some experience dealing with people in places like this and I'll help you out. What's your name?

[Not said dismissively, more like he's quoting something to himself, quietly.] There's always a war.

It's safer here than it was there. [And he's got to clarify] In the upper city, during the day, away from hot spots. Anyway, the sun here's not very impressive and nothing's tried to shoot or eat me yet.

But... okay. [At the moment, that's more to placate the Captain.] I'm Luke Skywalker.

[Jack snorts softly at the quiet quote, agreeing with it privately but not commenting.]

Hot spots? Anything I should know about this place that the droids don't cover?

Well that's good to hear. I've had both happen to me and neither is exactly pretty.

[Nods, fully expecting he'll probably never see Luke again] Nice to meet you Luke.

Ah... Just that the lower you go, the less light and more crime there is. More poverty, too. On the upper levels, where there's sunlight, it's usually pretty safe. Very... sterile. The droids tend to forget about that.

[Grin.] And don't drink the blue milk if it's cheap.

[Nods, absorbing this sort of important info.]

Good to know, thanks.

[eyebrow raise] Is there a difference between cheap blue milk and expensive blue milk?

Reply

sand_wormie September 30 2011, 03:45:05 UTC
Cheap blue milk is just nerf milk with fillers and coloring. The more expensive bottles did once have something to do with banthas, though it's watered down. [Shrug] Or maybe I'm just picky.

[Yeahh... didn't really get much of that. Not that he's going to admit it to a teen.]

I see. I think I'll stick to water.

They actually give it out at every single eating-place I've seen, without having to buy anything first! Cold, even!

[...forgive him, this is a novelty.]
