This is just embarassing...

[Realizes the datapad is on, moves to turn it off, shrugs, and looks at it]I need work to do. Back home I was a politician and diplomat, among other things. Can anyone advise me on how to get similar work here? I don't ( Read more... )

I don't know much about politics, but if your home planet or sector is represented here, they might listen if you talk to them.

If you know what... issues they handle. [Shrug]

It's something I've considered. There's a surprising amount of tension on Alderaan in this time; where I'm from it was a peaceful planet, whereas now it seems...more divided, with a surprising number in favor of military action. I probably could be of great help, given my experience. [But she's still reluctant, because she's still getting used to the idea that her home planet isn't actually a lot of space dust at this point. That and she knows that going up to rulers and saying "Hello, I'm from 4000 years in the future, more or less" does not usually get you an interview. Something more subtle required...]

I don't know about elections. Maybe intern? Do interns get paid? If they don't, they can be less picky about things.

Interns don't usually get paid, no. But I should look in to it all the same, see what I can find out.

That's all right, I'm not interested in glory. I'm interested in making a difference. That's a glorious thing in its own way, even if it's never recognized.
