Really Boring Running Log: The Guess Who I Met Last Night edition

Jun 22, 2009 22:38

Pittsburgh and Jamestown got hit with crazy storms last week (my office flooded Wednesday night and they closed it for Thursday), so part of my running schedule got thrown off by weather.  The other interfering factors were that I had a whirlwind weekend of a family wedding in Rochester and an event for which I needed to get home last night.  At ( Read more... )

You tease! You can't even give us a hint?

My parents have repeatedly let me know all about how much they disapproved of all that rain, so I'm impressed you got any running in at all. It's always the days I wake up with the most excited-to-run feeling that it ends up raining. Why is that?

I think I will do my running log today because we are going to be in Colorado starting tomorrow, and I fear that if I suddenly start running several thousand feet above sea level, I will pass out or barf or worse.

I think you probably have that excited feeling at other times, but you remember it more when you are thwarted. I know what you mean, though. I'm always excited to run on days when I get stuck at work late or have to go do something else.

Where in Colorado? I ran 45 minutes in a park in Fort Collins once and felt like I had gone for 15 miles, and Fort Collins isn't even as high as some places. I don't think you would pass out or barf, but you'd definitely feel sluggish and slow.

I'm afraid to give any hints because I think they'd be too obvious! How about this? It was a musical group that I've heard mentioned around these parts before.

We're going to be in Vail. I am hoping to go for some hikes. I don't know about running. First of all, let's just admit that secretly it is because I'm lazy. I ran in Rapid City once when it was 100 degrees when I was feeling more motivated, but this time around I'm like "Meh."

I ran in Rapid City once

I imagine that statement is uttered quite frequently.

Hike away, secretly lazy one!

Oh hai, I'm the fat person on the sidelines eating a doughnut and cheering you on. I'll save you one, I promise!

In all seriousness, cheering is pretty exhausting if you do it right. I know my troops have planned out different routes and viewing spots and stressed to get there on time. Plus, if you are equal opportunity about it and don't just cheer your person, it takes a lot of energy to be on like that for a long time.

Will it be a good one or the mashed, runny chocolate, only 3 sprinkles left one at the bottom of the bag?

Unless I'm actively running (at which time I'm really sensitive to smells), I love doughnuts! I worked in a bakery for about a year; people said I'd get tired of the hot sugary smells, but I didn't.
