I went to Lake Tahoe over Labor Day weekend. I adored it. It's so beautiful ... I really wish we could have stayed longer.
I made the reservations for my family's motel, and I found *such* a darling one. It's in the middle of the pine forest. It was so quiet at night, except for the crickets chirping. There was a very small balcony with two chairs that kind of became my private sanctuary the two nights we were there. I had a perfect view of mars, along with many other things I don't normally have the opportunity to see because of light polution. I've been reading a lot of Kipling lately, and it was so much fun to just sit out there and read with a heaven full of stars, the smell of pines, and the sounds of crickets. It was the perfect atmosphere for his stories. Sunday night was really depressing too, because of some things going on with my parents, but once things had calmed down a bit, it was nice to be able to retreat out there.
