hey! glad you found this. I tried looking you up on livejournal to see if you had one, but couldn't find you. I was sad. ^_~ Did she tell you about all the wellesley communities on here? there's 4, i think.
Congratulations on getting your rooming assignment! :) Thanks for asking those questions about orchestra; I was wondering, too... I think I read something somewhere about playing part of the first movement of a concerto for the audition, but I don't know...
I had noticed that you posted about that, so I waited for a few days to see if anyone answered you before posting. but since they didn't... I reminded them about the question, sort of. And I read that part too, about a concerto or whatever, and it worries me, because I don't know how stringent they are on the forms for auditioning. I hope they're not too uptight about it. I have a *really* hard piece that I'm going to play, but it's just a solo, and it wasn't written by one of the well-known, generally-played composers like bach or beethoven.
I'm glad you did because I really want to know.... Do you think that Wellesley college messageboard would be a good place to ask? It seems like a difficult solo would be just as good, but I think you're right that it depends on how strict they are but I hope someone eventually answers the question so we'll know what to practice... I'm not that great a flute player - I've never gotten into "all region" band or anything like that - but I do want continue playing in college and an orchestra sounds fun... The chamber music groups sound fun, too!
