[Dlanor is standing by the phone, holding it in her hand almost absentmindedly. After a long pause, she starts to set it down, but brings it back up to her ear. Definitely a dial tone. So the wires haven't been cut. At least, not yet. She holds it away from her, but still close enough so everyone can pick up what she's saying ( Read more... )

[Dlanor looks at the phone, startled. Hesitantly, she puts the phone up to her ear and responds.]

...Yes. That is where I was assigned prior to this game.

[this is definitely a voice she hasn't heard of before]

... What is going on? State your name first.

[Oh. Oh there are bad vibes here.]

... Furniture, Uryu? Is that furniture?

...I have been referred to as such before. [A pause.] Please identify yourself.

...You have never been on the game board. However, your name was mentioned in a file. [A pause.] I suppose it is proper to introduce myself. I am Dlanor A. Knox, Head Inquisitor of Heresy. Though you are furniture of a witch, I will not execute you as long as you do not interfere in the game.

...What is it with all these weird new people and 'games?'

If you are not involved, I suggest you do not involve yourself.

...It is not resolved that easily. If you have not been invited by a player, you cannot join it.

[She speaks dispassionately.]

...Greetings, Miss Lambdadelta. I enjoyed participating in your game.

...Do you know why Ushiromiya Battler has changed the setting? I was under the impression that Rokkenjima was a suitable mystery.

Heehehehe, you think it was that half-wit who did this? I strongly doubt Battler capable of this.

However, he is the Game Master, is he not? He is the only one with authority over the game board. Therefore, it is logical to conclude that he is responsible for the change of scenery.

[o hai daughter! Ramza looks surprised at the new arrival, but seems to accept it easily enough.]

Ah, hello. I suppose a "game" is one way of describing all of this...

Have you learned of the situation yet, milady?

[Hi new daddy! Hopefully she doesn't kill this one.]

Greetings. It appears that I will be living here for the time being, if you don't mind. My name is Dlanor A. Knox.

...I have, for the most part, been informed. However, I have one question. What did Mister Sakutaro mean by "brainwashing" and "drones"? He mentioned them, but did not give me a definition.

heroofheresy January 15 2010, 05:52:31 UTC
You are welcome here, of course, Lady Dlanor. I am Ramza Beoulve.

...The drones -- they are residents of this town, unlike you or myself who have been brought here from other worlds. They are mindless creatures; they all act similarly and all have the same love for this place. You'll see them if you take the time to explore the town.

To be brainwashed... is to be forced to act like one of them for a short while. It normally happens when you have done something wrong, such as not going to school or work, or failing to come home for long periods of time.

...I see. Then this place is even more sinister than I thought. They are forcing us to engage in such mundane activities? It is almost as though whoever has brought us here intends to strip our free will away entirely. All the more reason for me to solve this mystery. Very soon I will begin to search for clues.

...It might be fruitless, but it will feel better than doing nothing.
