So we went back over to the hospice, and his breathing had changed. There were longer intervals between breaths, so we sat down and waited. We talked to him, told him that it was OK for him to go, to rest: his body was working really hard, which was hard to watch. I am so relieved for your father that his loving family was with him. What a gift you gave him, holding him as he left. I wish as much for all of us.

I hope that you eased his passing gives you whatever small comfort may be had. I love you.
