As someone so eloquently wrote earlier - they've produced just enough flashes of good stuff today to bring back some optimism, and then cruelly crushed it, like when the prettiest girl at school invites you round the back of the bike sheds, but it's only when you get there that you find it was so the resident big kids you knock seven shades of shit out of you.
It does seem like the natural state of being for an English cricket fan at the moment is a strange cycle of crushed optimism.
I must confess, I like to see Collingwood in the team. Ok, he's had absolutelty no form up to today, but he's a batsman who in the past has been reliably solid, despite not being the most technically skilled, or naturally talented. He always looks to be enjoying himself, even when it's not going well, and his stint in the winning Ashes team has to go down as the best innings of 12 ever...
